VAT Assistant Manager – Manchester - £40,000k-£45,000k + Benefits package

Based in Manchester, our client is a Top 10 accountancy firm that is looking for a VAT Assistant Manager due to continued growth. THE JOB:

As Assistant Manager within the team, this role will provide VAT compliance and advisory services for a wide range of corporate clients in the FTSE100, FTSE250, AIM and private equity backed and privately owned businesses.

Main Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibility will be to deal with all matters relating to the management of a portfolio of existing clients and assist with the development of targets in order to ensure the continued growth of the business. You will also provide assistance to senior members of staff in both client work and in the management of the group. Key to the role is for the individual to be able to pro-actively manage their own workload, communicating with managers/directors/partners on a regular basis. This is essential due to the size and nature of the team. Furthermore, the individual will be expected to be able to consider and highlight further opportunities to develop new work.

THE PERSON

 

You will need significant understanding of and previous experience within UK VAT compliance, having dealt with the annual process of both small clients and those with a much more extensive number of assignees. You will require an in-depth knowledge of recent VAT updates and previous experience in VAT compliance having managed your own portfolio of clients and having offered VAT advice required by your clients. The ability to manage a large and varied client portfolio along with the ability to actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients is essential. Previous experience of dealing directly with the HMRC and experience of dealing with client senior management and key stakeholders is also required.
