Hybrid role with both office and home working


Based across the Northwest, our client is an award-winning, large independent practice that is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to lead their audit team in Lancashire. Working as part of a large team, this firm can offer an exciting and varied role to an enthusiastic and ambitious audit professional.


As Audit Manager you will report to the Audit Partners. Leading the Audit, Accounting and Advisory team, you will be expected to provide an excellent service to the firm’s clients in accordance with the firm’s values, procedures, prevailing legislation, and good professional practice so as to meet or exceed client’s expectations and needs. The team works with a broad range of clients, many of which are privately owned or subsidiaries of overseas-owned groups. 

The main responsibilities will include:

  • To be a trusted adviser to the firm’s clients, forming excellent client relationships.
  • Delivering quality audit files to the responsible individuals; performing timely reviews of each stage of the audit file, communicating clearly and appropriately with the team and clients at all stages.
  • Reviewing accounts in accordance with FRS101, FRS102 and FRS102-1A, ensuring inclusion of appropriate disclosures and to advise clients on general accountancy matters, including technical updates relevant to their business.
  • Reviewing and understanding corporation tax computations for audit and accounts preparation purposes, liaising with the tax team to further understanding and technical knowledge of tax matters.
  • Developing a strong internal network to enable you to liaise with other departments effectively and efficiently, ensuring we deliver a joined-up approach and great service to our clients.
  • Carrying out ad hoc assignments when requested by clients; ensuring that the assignment is appropriately scoped, we have the appropriate skills and other client work, and services continue to be delivered effectively. Be a team player, be supportive and act as a mentor to less experienced members of the team.
  • Actively manage your client portfolio and be commercially aware through preparing realistic budgets, ensuring efficiencies are delivered without compromise on quality of work or client service and ensure fees are discussed with clients and invoiced appropriately.
  • Proactively identify improvements to the way things are done, focusing on quality and efficiency of the team and the firm as a whole.
  • Assisting in the regular training and development of junior team members, carrying out team training and skills workshops when necessary.
  • Leading and participating in departmental and team meetings.
  • Assisting with monitoring accounting software updates as well as being involved in updating and development of accounting software when required.  


The ideal applicant will be ACCA/ACA qualified with at least 2 years post qualified experience. You will need to be passionate about providing great client service and keen to play an active role in a dynamic team, contributing to the success of both the team and the firm. You must be great at communicating with people at all levels, both face to face and in writing and you will need to be motivated and well organised. You will need a resilient approach, be able to work under pressure, and have good problem-solving ability.
