In-House Tax Assistant Manager – Cheshire - Salary paying £35k plus benefits

Based in the North West, our client is a rapidly growing Service Provider, who is seeking an individual to join their business as a Tax Assistant Manager.

THE JOB:

Supporting the Head of Tax, this is an opportunity for a Tax Assistant Manager to join a newly created centralised function within the Finance department which is responsible for managing all direct and indirect taxes across the Group.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for the review of a portfolio of indirect tax returns including VAT, EC Sales listings and intrastat covering UK, Ireland and Europe
  • Ensure indirect tax liabilities and refunds are remitted on a timely basis
  • Provide the Treasury function with indirect tax payments and receipts forecasts
  • Manage a central indirect tax compliance calendar to ensure all returns are submitted on time
  • Work with the Accounting & Finance teams to verify the quality, completeness and timely preparation of financial data used to compile indirect tax returns
  • UK corporation tax returns – support the implementation of tax computation software
  • Using profit forecasts, calculate the corporation tax payments required for each UK legal entity, and ensure they are made at the right time
  • Transfer pricing documentation – assist the Head of Tax in preparing and updating transfer pricing documentation
  • Submit claims to tax authorities and deal with routine tax enquiries from tax authorities
  • Assist the Head of Tax in project work as required

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate will be looking to study towards CTA (study support provided) or already be studying, and will have previous experience of working within a tax function. All backgrounds will be considered, whether from an in-house or practice function, and either direct or indirect tax experience is equally valuable. Experience of operating in multiple European jurisdictions would be desirable, but not essential. Advanced Excel skills are required and having previously worked within a fast-paced environment would also be advantageous. Sage knowledge or experience of a similar accounting system would be beneficial.
