This Charity and Not for Profit organisation is looking for an experienced Systems Accountant to join them in this newly-created role to support the Finance & Procurement Director and act as the main interface between the Finance and IT team. This can be on a full or part-time basis, with flexible working, excellent pension, holidays, and other benefits.

The job:

Reporting to the Director of Finance you will act as the main point of contact within the Finance & Procurement team for system issues, liaising with the IT team and external suppliers. In close collaboration with these 3 key teams, you will be integral to the planning, managing, and support of any system upgrades and implementations. Review and design appropriate system workflows, support ongoing automation projects, and ensure relevant training and development is actioned.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of business case proposals and project plans

  • Contribute to developing solutions to improve or automate financial processes

  • Evaluate, design, plan, implement and test new requirements

  • Managing functional testing for development or upgrade activities

  • Documenting processes and procedures

  • Provide training and support, and develop user guides where relevant

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to review and design Finance & Procurement system workflows

  • Ensure that systems remain efficient and meet operational needs whilst maintaining robust internal controls

  • Design and scope reports and dashboards within the existing systems

  • Support organisational change programmes and efficiency reviews across the organisation

  • Troubleshooting and resolving a range of detailed system issues

The Person

  • You will ideally be a fully Qualified Accountant, but an experienced Part Qualified/Stop Studier will be equally considered, and whilst not a pre-requisite, an understanding of public sector or charity accounting and procurement will be highly beneficial
  • You will have solid experience in creating management information and developing systems and processes, and broad-ranging experience of financial and systems information, enabling you to influence management decision making
  • An effective communicator, you will be well versed in working with people at all levels inside and outside of an organisation, able to explain complex concepts easily
